First Waves Stewardship Event
Join us for a Watersmith Guild Stewardship Event and First Waves Workshop in conjunction with the Stonycreek Rendezvous! The morning session (10:00am – noon) will include a tree planting and conservation mini-hike along the Stonycreek River in Ferndale! The afternoon session (2:00pm – 4:00pm) will include a downstream stewardship paddle leaving from Greenhouse Park and ending 2-miles downstream at the Coal Tubin shop. The event will also provide training for First Waves volunteers and mentors. You’re welcome to provide your own gear, however, we will have boards, rafts, and equipment available as needed!
10-Year Celebration Film Event
Join us to celebrate 10 amazing years of First Waves programs with a video recap in conjunction with the Stonycreek Rendezvous! The film will start when the sun goes down as a brief intermission of all the great live music, food, and more that takes place at this amazing event hosted by the Benscreek Canoe Club
NatureWorks - Community Event + Film Screenings
Nature Works returns in 2024!
The Bottle Works and Penguin Court, a preserve of Brandywine Conservancy, present the 6th annual family friendly, and completely free, event bringing 20+ nature and/or conservation-based vendors to the Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center in Johnstown, PA for a nature expo. Vendors will have information to educate community participants on outdoor recreation opportunities in our region, sustainable ways to participate, environmental conservation, and more!
The Watersmith Guild will host an information booth as well as two film screenings throughout the day. Schedule below:

Watermarks Film - Pittsburgh Premiere + 5 Point Film Festival
The Watersmith Guild will once again be partnering with Ascend Climbing and 3 Rivers Outdoor Company to host the 5th annual 5 Point Film Festival in Pittsburgh! We are ecstatic to announce that at this year’s event, the Guild will also be providing the Pittsburgh premiere of, “Watermarks,” the group’s latest film project in partnership with Malhari Media. First Waves Stewardship Workshop

Along the way, we will be performing a stream cleanup as well as beginning an all-new Tree Planting initiative along mine reclamation riparian zones. The event will also provide training for First Waves volunteers and mentors. You’re welcome to provide your own gear, however, we will have boards, rafts, and equipment available as needed!
Film Screening and Fundraiser at Stick City Brewing
We are excited to announce an official film screening and fundraiser event of First Waves Indiana, a regional project that empowers youth to contribute to watershed conservation and recreation. Join us on Thursday, May 18th at Stick City Brewing (7:00pm) for a celebration of this amazing project.
